View Full Version : UVW Unwrap of Hi-poly, complicated model.

I have spent ages on a 12000+ poly model of an abandoned hall (nearly done) and have come to texturing it. When mapping the whole model, there are hundreds of little bits that make it impossible to texture.

I have tried selecting individual pats of the model, but they cause 3dsmax to crash.

Any ideas on any way that i can put this model into a form that will be managable for texturing?

Hi Scott

Ive not used Max for texturing before but I find it hard to believe it would struggle with 12k polys. Thats pretty cheap by modern standards. You could try extracting parts of the model and texturing them individually or make face selections and unwrap that way. Which bits imparticular are causing you problems?
