I agree with everyone here! Nice job, it really leaves an impression. I also looked at your site and read your articles, they were just as impressive, and thought provoking. I happen to like social commentary kinds of art eventhough I've never done any myself. I usually draw strong female characters, because too many times I see characters that merely are there to make scenery, or to be the damsel in distress. There are men out there who love women who can kick some ass once in a while too.:)

I feel similarly about women's role and importance as equal human beings, and having certain rights that should not be infringed upon even if others disagree. Keep it up, because the world needs to hear our voices, and we still have issues that need resolution by peaceful means. ~Angela

I personally do not think I could do anything of this sort because of the feelings and memories that it will bring up. You are a stronger person then I in this regard.

My life go on and the light of friends and family burn away the dark moments that threaten to consume us.

hi everyone! thank you so much for the kind words.
I didn't expect such a reception for this piece.

In digitalart.org for example they refused to even add it to my gallery, because of "distasteful and/or offensive content"... I'm so glad modern people are used to seeing more than pretty subjects, and that all the wonderful talent on CGtalk is so accustomed to giving a moment to think about what we see..

Thank you again for the kind comments.

kisses
Christina

Well, it's certainly good, it's shocking...and probably the LAST thing in the world I would want to see if I were a rape victim.

What really captures me the most is the subjects direct eye contact to the viewer , kind of a emotional dareing demonstration if you will , and has all the poise of a Zoftic Character ,it is obvious that your anatomy classes are paying off from med school. tableau of color is right on not much to crit on this jewl!

palantion> first off thanks for the thumbs up.. I do think there's lots of things wrong with the colour and anatomy, but I'm glad you can enjoy it nonetheless.

I have to reply to your comment because it's uncanny that you spotted in her look exactly what I was trying to do with her.

I remember an old documentary about cartoons which said characters should never "break the fourth wall" (the screen) by looking at you. That was old school WB toons, and it even had a frame-by frame where that wolf character looks left to right, *skipping* the "I'm looking at you" frame.

My intention with this piece was to have a woman (I modelled as the head, incidentally, and my girlfriend as the body) looking in a challenging sort of way at the viewer. She would look at the rapist and give him the cold eye treatment. Then I realised that 99.99999% or even 100% of the people who are going to look at it aren't rapists... And I knew rapists wouldn't feel any guilt anyhow. So I skipped the explanations anyway.. But since you mentioned, yes, that is what gave me the mood setting.

I'll stop babbling now..
thanks again.

It's probably been a year since I commented on anyone's artwork....even though there is an astounding amount of great art on this site. But your image is perhaps one of the most powerful I've seen on here. Keep raising the bar and getting your emotions out.
