I just finished a seven minute 3D animated short film created for the Salvation Army starring Detroit radio personallity Dick Purtan as an animated character. This short leads off an educational DVD kit that encourages kids to get involved in the Jr Bed & Bread Club which feeds and shelters the homeless in Detroit.

I started this short in August and finished right around new years eve. I was in charge of direction and story as well as character design, modeling and animation. I was one of 4 animators on the project and everything past the halfway point (the map sequence) is me.

Yesterday it was shown at the annual WOMC Radioathon where Dick Purtan helped to raise almost 2.4 million dollars for the Salvation Army.

I plan to submit this to childrens film festivals. Let me know what you think!

Well, i guess it's for a charity organization you made this film. I think it felt very warm and nice...

I wish you luck on the festival

Thanks Acorn and Alom for the kind words. Yes, this was done for a charity but I did get a small payment which was nice. Acorn I'm glad you liked the dialuge... there was a lot of it! And also it deals with a sensitive subject matter and is geared towards a kid audience. I think we struck the appropriate balance. Definately an interesting challenge and a very different short film than my previous one, "The Legend of Farmer Jenkins": http://www.farmerjenkins.com

Thanks again for checking it out!

great animation.

It's beautifully shot and looks really really polished. There were only a few glitches lookwise... nothing really worth to mention.

I think the guy and the talking car perfectly fit the audience.

5 stars!
