Hey Folks,

I bought the "Cinema 4D Worshop" and so far I like it. It feels like the author actually wrote it in a way to build up confidence in the reader/user pretty quickly. Well done!

Anyhow, I am stuck. Not in a bad way, more like I can't figure out something that seems like it should be simple but for the life of me I can't seem to make it right and it is REALLY bugging me. I don't have the book in front of me now but I can describe the issue. In chapter 1.5, where the reader/user is directed through step in Poly modeling a MacPro computer, there is a section where the author shows how to use "Boole" as a method to create a hole in the mesh. Well in one instruction it states that the Boole can be converted to an editable mesh or something or other (again the book aint in front of me now so some technical terms may go out the window here ;) ). I look for the instructions and the diagrams but it does NOT state how. I figures it was the good old button that convert all primitives to editable states or by pressing "C" on the keyboard. Wel in the diagram it shows the "Boole" as a new POLY object but when I do it it is something different. I think it becomes a grouped object. The icon in my version is different then the one in the diagram in the object manager. If I am missing a step can someone PLEASE help me out. I am more then sure it's all ME but I can't quite figure it out.

Thanks in advance for ANY help y'all can give.

-Dimos

P.S. I am new to C4D so please be nice

hey Dimos, nice to see you still pushing at it. Actually you were right on the button in that 'C' would make the boolean editable. the difference between what was int he pic and what you got was likely a bit of missing information or something in the pictures you missed. In the boolean object should be an checkbox option called 'create single object' This option must have been turned on in one of the pics or they forgot to mention that or something. You have a null with multiple objects inside it because it did the boolean operation but retained each separate object. with the option on, it makes a single polygon object.

NEVERMIND!!!

This isn't the first time I've done this and I feel silly.

Uhm. I took a breathe, looked at my options and did what I felt was LOGICAL and it worked! HOORAY! This program is just pretty darn fun! I converted the "Boole" to editable and dragged the new Poly out of the Null grop that was just formed and viola! Looks exactly like it does in the diagram. :D

Sorry for the bother.

PRETTY SIMPLE STUFF!!!

OOOOO!!! I'll try that too!

EDIT

Checked those settings and all was well. I still had to drag the new poly object out of the NULL group. But hey it worked.

Thanks
