View Full Version : Divide, multiply, Add Pixel... What's means?

Hello friends,

in some programs, like Photoshop, exist some blend mode. Sceen, Soft eccc... But, in math, what's means? Like... mmm... for example Add... If i add 2 pixel color

[0,128,128] +
[128,0,0] =
[128,128,128] ???

And, divide pixel, multiply ecc... there are some paper or resource for help me?

The thing to keep in mind is that the layer blend mode names don't neccessarily match up with what you expect mathematically. Always keep in mind that in terms of digital compositing, different programs can take different naming conventions and also slightly different implementations of the actual maths. It's easy to get confused in this area, best way is to double check the maths to be sure you are getting the image operation you are actually expecting.

Oh I should also note that it doesn't look like these are for the latest version of photoshop.
