How do I render a pond so that it is transparent, reflects the environment and has refractions?

Actually I just would have to apply a blinn-shader to the surface, but does anyone know how I do that without messing the pond-content up? I might need a poly-surface output (like the ocean-preview-plane)?

Try the new mia_material shader. In the help file it even shows how to make a ocean/pond with exactly the characteristics you mentioned.
