In my precomp, i have the audio icon checked and I can hear audio when i ram preview it.

When I put that precomp in the final comp, the audio icon is checked but it is darker and I can't hear audio in the ram preview.

I am sure (hope) it is something simple.

Also, when I render it, there is no audio.

Any ideas? Thx.

go back you your precomp (where you can hear the audio) and twirl down the Waveform. see if it renders the sound on the layer (if it draws the wave).

if it doesn't that its probably some codec problem

Mmh, is the audio embedded in some Quicktime or other file? The dark icon would indicate that AE is simply unable to convert the sample rates. Can happen if framerates are different between comps or you are using time stretch/ time remapping. Other then that I have no idea. AE's audio is weak, so perhaps try to use your audio only in the main comp?

I should have done this b4 I posted but I restarted the puter and it works as it should now. I exported from FCP using the animation codec. Thx for taking the time to answer.
