I imported my .3ds models from maya with their texture coordinates, but in one part of my texture, it is distorted. its not distorted in maya though, only max. So, I was just wondering how to open a UV editor or something similar to Maya's "texture editor" so i can fix the distortion. any help would be great, bc i cant find it anywhere in the help docs. I dont know what its called in max :(

Heh, we're all so vulnerable when thrust into a new program, ahh, the joys of wondering how to select verticies in Maya.. I remember it clearly, if not so fondly :)

What you want to do here is applying a UV Unwrapper modifier. MAX doesn't have a "UV editor window" like you'll find in Maya, instead we have a UV editor window specific to one object.

To break it down: select object
go to the "Modify" panel
select UV Unwrap from the modifier-list-dropdown
hit the Edit button
do as you would in Maya, remember to check out Help for specific details on useage of the UV EditorI know "do as yo would in Maya" is skipping lightly over the use of the editor, but really, they're very similar imo. Fire away if there are specifics that are causing problems.
