Title: Wolf is the Hunter
Name: Bence Kresz
Country: Hungary
Software: Photoshop

This time i tried to paint a more realistic picture. This is a Focke Wolf 190 D-9 (it is the longer version) and the other aircraft is a Spitfire. I worked on it about 15 hours becouse I repainted the landscepe three times.
I saw John Wallin Liberto's artworks and I tried to solve his magic technics.
Original picture size is 2500px wide.
Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.

Being a big fan of aviation art, I really like it. The background particularly the landscape looks great. The planes look good too and capture the look of these two aircraft really well.

The only part I don't like is the panel lines on the Dora. I feel they look too dark and thick.

I find John's aviation art very inspiring too.

I can only suggest you to be more decisive while painting hard surfaces. You can place your plane into top layer, use a cutout mask and paint it's surface with broad strokes (hard edge brushes are good). Don't worry about details at this stage just model the object forms. Then it starts to look good in your eyes add details, scratches, signs etc. The highlights could be placed into another layer so you can easely control them. You can also place air streaks to create an illusion of airflow and speed.

Anyway I like the image you've done, keep it up!

Very nice picture! I like the lighting and the details of the plane. Also the ground and it's distance fog looks good!

kevjon: What does Dora mean?

Elfa: I used 4 layers. One is the Focke, one is the bg, one is the spitfire (there was two version for it) and one for the smoke. I will try your suggestions!

EhsanD: My old friend! Thank you to pay attention on my work every time ;)

Here soem details:

Spitfire 100% scale (it was bigger, but i rescaled it to give more depth for the image):

FW190-D is D for Dora. Kind of a nick name for this version of the FW190 which was used very late in WWII.
