i read all about this auto uv in wings but i cant find it...how do i activate it??

Object mode -> Select object -> RMB -> AUV (at bottom of menu) :)

hmm at the bottom of my menu it says strip texture..

ahh I see I was running an older version...got the new versiona and found it...thanks puzzled paul:beer:
