Great interview. I love the part about him saying the best animators are not always the best drawers.
I'm not a great drawer but a descent animator. :) Very cool interview.

That is so true. Different minds work differently. You don't necessarily have to create thumbnails of poses in order to produce great animation. Some people just animate away and it turns out great.
I personally animate straight ahead most of the time, and change my poses on the fly if i realize that they don't quite work on the previews. I can't make up my mind about a pose (especially if its on paper) until i see it in context with the rest of the animation and with the appropriate timing.
