Hey everybody,
I wanted to share with you my latest project I did at university.
This is my first attempt in character animation.
So don't be too harsh with your comments ;-)
Also, this was the first time using zBrush seriously in my work.
Programs used: Maya, zBrush, Premiere, After Effects
Here is the result. Have fun !

QUICKTIME Movies (Sorenson3)

LARGE --> 20 MB

This is not bad at all for your first character animation. The biggest issue I see with the animation though is the floating happening when the character turns toward the camera. The feet are sliding around, which doesnt make the weight feel believable. The weight shift and the timing are the other big issues on the turn. The character has a constant rate of turn toward the camera, and theres no up and down on the waist when hes turning. I would suggest recording yourself acting the whole bit out and watching closely how the body arcs and change direction, as well as the timing of the change in direction.

Pretty damn good for your first animation though. And your model isn't too bad at all. I agree with all the things in the above post. Also, something that struck me as odd was the rate he gets bigger when he moves toward the camera. I'm not sure it's right. Still, pretty nice in all.

thank you guys for the encouraging words.
i really appreciate it, and i'm gonna work hard to get better in animation.
as I said this was also to get familiar with the whole workflow.
studying real motion is the best you can do, you're right. same as in drawing.
thanx again
