ninjacore 02-27-2003, 01:54 PM i downloaded some wierd version of luminaire the other day, but the help file has the wrong screen shots? does anyone know where i can get an up to date version for max 5? there seems to be something missing in the Lights pull down box, which is present in the help file screenshots.

Well, the site just says you need max v2 or later. Not that that helps you much.

I've heard others talk about how dodgy the Luminaire texture baker was, so beware. Apparently it added pixel noise here and there.

oh really?
i just wanted it to try the "make an object a light" thing. but for some reason i'm missing a certain "tool" that the help file highlights in its tutorial.

Hmmm. Well for that kind of effect, maybe this guy's Neon scripted material might do the trick?

Despite the fact, that you're probably better off with "Neon", I just like to add that luminaire is not a weird plug-in, but works really great if you know how it works. The interface is everything but user-friendly, i agree, but when you take the time to figure it out, it's a very usefull plug-in. Just read the documentation, and you should be able to understand how it works.
