View Full Version : Scaling after Skinning
DarkBane 02-27-2003, 12:08 PM I have a scene that I want to place a character that is skinned into. The problem is that the scale of my character is too big.
Is there any way to scale the character down.
I tried grouping the whole character together, and scaling the group, but that didn't work.
Any ideas?

Select the "Root Joint" (and IK handles if any), group it and scale the group.

I tried that.
I scaled the joints just fine, but the skinned surfaces was scaled down really really small, and away from the rig
I'm still trying, I think it might be because I had locked some things in the Channel Control.

You have to group the joints with the IK to them selves, not with the geometry. I just tried that, it works fine. Groping them with the geometry gave me the result u have explained.

I had this problem once too. The only way I could fix it was to delete my IK handles and spline handles, then detach my skin and scale the skin and skeleton down separately. Like you said I tried a whooole bunch of different ideas and had two different teachers trying too and so far thats all we could do to fix it. Then i had to re-skin and re-IK the damn thing.
Hopefully someone else will find out how to do it without losing any work

peshoff and tomb are right. Just group the root joint and ik handles all together into 1 group and scale that group. Don't select the skin or anything else. I've done this lots of times and it's worked fine.
