skin modifier !!

Could you be a little more precise on the problems you are experiencing ?
maybe posting a screenshot of the mesh you're trying to skin might help : )

if you want, you could try painting the wieghts...it under the same rollout in the envolope menu..i think its a button called paint wieghts..but its easier in my opinion than using that stupid envolpe modifier cage thingy...you can change the size of the brush to get more precise wiegting of verts in tight spots...hope that helps a little..its in the manual on how to use it..but you wont need it its pretty easy to use
