Hey! hEy! kids... im not looking for tutorials..but some good suggestions on the new unwrapper..i.e..do you think flat mapping is better than unfold mapping and or what number values do you like personally..like..45angle threshold...0.2 spacing for flat mapping or 75 and .05 whats good?? whats your favorite? and for what type of objects work best with this type of unwrappping..not on how to use it ,,cus i know how to use it just not well.. im pretty used to the old unwrapper myself and i would love to hear some testomnials and bad or good experiences

Auto-unwrapping is only good IMO if you want to use a 3D painting program. Or you want to use the UVs for render-to-texture, or some other arcane UV issue.

I know you're not asking for this, but it might help to examine this tut. He talks, in detail, about combining auto-unwrapping with custom UV editing. Some great tips in there.

Oh, and Equinoxx is right, chuggnut's tools really are great, well worth the dl. Not for auto-unwrapping per se, but for a host of other helpful uv tools.

kool...ill go over the tuts..but i do think the unwrapper has uses , cuz i do mostly low poly modeling for games..so its sort of a must that i use the unwrapper...but thanks for the responces

posm wasn't telling you not to use the unwrapper, just not the auto-unwrap function . . .
