Hello!

I am a complete noob in the compositing area..

I am on a project were I want to composite things differnt on eachother.. for exemple:

I have a character runing with moving hair rendering in vray.. well I will render the whole character in vray. while the hair and its shadows in scanline.. to make evrything faster..

another example.. is instead of rendering a whole enviroment and its moving object. I could render first the enviroment alone as a 3d flythroug enviroment and then render the charactrs alone and then compositing them together... well you get maybe my point..
I just have no idea how to this.. I only know that it works in max and it is faster renderings

thanx for help and taking time to deal your expeience with me the noob

well this is just simply layering....your 3D renderings will have alpha channels.

what software package do you plan to comp with?

Well, it is possible in Max using the videopost tool or using Composite or Blend materials, but I wouldn't suggest it.
If you can't afford a compositing software, try Jahshaka or Blenders comp tool(both freeware)

It's too friggin complicated, no nodes and no realtime preview/feedback(you have to render allways). It's simply not the right tool for that kind of job.
