View Full Version : managing the material editor | what to do when u have more than 24 ????
everlite 02-15-2007, 08:33 PM Say i have a scene with 50 objects and they all need texturing, what's the best practice of organising the material editor?
Seeing the editor only has 24 slots it becomes a little difficult to manage when it fills up. In the past i'd fill up the 24 then reset the editor and continue this way, but i'm sure there's a better practice of handling scenes with over 24 materials?
Cheers - Dave.

Since I use the SME I almost never have more than two or three materials in the editor. And I use material libraries very often. Having lots of materials in the editor can slow down the program, especially when dealing with huge texture maps.
Blur offers a script called Material Stuffer which allows you to bring materials by selection into the editor.

Yeah it slows down like hell and materials keep on popping on and off all over the scene :-)
Whats SME?

edit: Be sure to save your material in a library from time to time when using SME(still beta)
