I currently use maya 7 unlimited and jut downloaded the demo for Mudbox... AND I LOVE IT.

But most of my models in Maya are at most 10k polys. To use the artisan tools well I need somthing like 10 million right...

What would be a good way to set this up (Smooth Poly gets real slow as I do it more) without bogging down my system...

and if I cant handle the numbers... what hardware should I upgrade.

Mudbox has an internal subdivider. You would need to make your mesh "subdividable" (you have edges beveled where you want to keep edges, etc.) and simply export your subdividable mesh at the lowest subdivision range, and subdivide in Mudbox.

Can I say subdivide one more time?
