Hi people,

I'm trying to texture an aircraft by setting up 4 planar maps one for each side of the model (top, side, front and bottom). How would you quickly select all the faces, say facing the X-axis all at once? Is there such a function or do you have to manually/carefully select the faces so only the faces towards the x-axis get selected?

thanks!

hi,

if you're using maya, you can constrain your selection.

in the polygon subset, under select>select using constraints...
there's a lot of settings here, but if you're trying to select face, you can go under the orientation tab and turn it on to either direction or orientation. direction selects all faces on the current axis even if they're facing the oppisite direction. orientation only selects one side.
so if you adjust the Vx to 100 that will only select faces on the x-axis.

you can also constrain your selection with a lot of varibles, so try playing around with these sliders and settings. ther'es a lot going on in this window, i still need to learn them all.

hope that helps.
