looks pretty realistic to me:thumbsup:

I think it could do with a few little scratches , greasy marks etc to break up the chrome reflections (unless you're deliberately going for the pristine look..)

nice render :)

looks pretty good, although the clock fase seems to be too matte black, it is too dark, almost as if there is a whole in the clock and nothing was rendered behind it. Maby give it a tiny bit more spec so that it catches some highlighting, it will add more dimension, let us know that the face is actually there.

looks realistic to me :)... i'd change the clock hands to metallic textures if i were you though... it looks to matte in there at the moment...

you should add finger prints and dusts on the spec and reflective channel. it is way too clean right now

It does look pretty realistic :)

Although I agree that the metal is too perfect. A few scratches here and there would improve it.

Also, that wood burl pic you used on the table is very recognisable - it is used really often. Rather use another pic of wood :)

Otherwise, a nice piece of work :)

hum. just said the same as everyone else; a small amount of dirt, fingerprints and dust. otherwise perfect!

I agree about needing finger prints all over it. It's an alarm clock, after all;) I think it looks realistic. Nice job! The alarm bell is going off in my head as I write this and I don't want to wake up!!:)

Thanks for comments ;)

I've been inspired by this photography (http://creabuzz.free.fr/img/autres/25004.jpg ) to make my clock , that's why it has no scratches ...

Yes Leigh, I'm using default max pic but this details was not my priority,
but I'd change this texture (I've scanned a little piece of a wood board :p )

Today I've added some of dust and dirt, render next day...

maybe stick something at the top left of the render where the black spot is

looks great! :applause:

I wouldn't have suspected it was CG. Could details be improved? Perhaps. But the 'flaws' in it (are they really flaws or just in need of revision?) are really only noticable if you know it was CG.

:)

Gotta say though, I'm not sure I agree with Leigh about the nicks and scratches. Eep! Put the pitchforks down! This pic looks an awful lot like a product shot taken at a professional photo studio. Not only does the reflections reflect that (looks a little like a white card, doesn't it?) but the perfectly placed lighting as well. In a photoshoot like that, the clock would be as perfect as possible. It'd be perfectly polished with no blemishes. (They'd probably airbrush or Photoshop out any blemishes that made it to film.)

I guess what I'm saying is that the scratches aren't required because the image looks so much like it belongs in a catalog. :)

its great! your reference doesn't look as real, even though its a real photo

it looks very realistic, except for one thing which would be the solid black behind the table. I think it would look completely realistic If you were to put something in to fill in that black, like background, because as of now it looks as if the table is lit and the entire room is completely unlit. but all together, this is a great peice

edit: Buzz, I took a look at your site, and the "Autres Wip" in the WIP section is lookin very sweet! :buttrock:

If you imagine that it was shot as a product picture for a catalog, it actually makes some sense. Photographers use black clothes and white diffused lights to control reflections on metallic objects. Glass is another material that they photograph that way.

Yes this is the reason for the black background ;)

But now I'd make a version of my scene "not professional photo " ;)

Thanks for comments.

It looks realistic, nice clock in fact. I agree with Psil and Leigh , it could use a little wear. Some scratches and smudges and such to give it character.

Hi,

This is my new version of my clock, I've changed the wood and I've added some dirt...

And I've made a version with photo grain Click here (http://creabuzz.free.fr/img/3d/reveil-buzz2gr.jpg)

And now I can't do renders anymore because I've finished my training period and I've no Brazil version in my home

Nice work.

nice modeling with good details. Maybe if you put a little reflection on that clock fase, it'd be better.

Overall, I love it.
