Hey there, i hope u guys can answer this:

for some reason, whenever i use 3dsmax (v. 5) and after that i open my Internet Explorer my computer vollentarely restarts itself.
though it doesn't happen vice versa. it's very irretating.

Sounds rather odd.

What OS are you using?

i'm using Windows Professional 2000

it also seems that after i close 3dsmax it is still processing and doesn't close intirely. but that shouldn't be a probablem. i should be able to open both IE and Max at the same time

How much ram do you have? It seems to me atm that your cpu is running out of mem so as a fail safe it restarts.

3d max will stay in the system tray until your hardware lock mgr goes away. Its a prog that runs in the background.

Yep...looks RAM & VRAM probemo here..

1. On your 3DSMAX goto :
Customize > Preference settings > Viewport, change the driver to Software Z-buffer (try not to use Max OpenGL driver)

2. on your Win2K, try to enlarge your Win2K Pagefiles :
Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Option, then change it to 300-500 then restart your PC

Reset all of those IE options back to default, close all unecessary programs like messengers or whatever

:wavey:

No problem with Max's OpenGL, but uncorrected or older version of Detonator Driver will cause conflict or vollentarely restarts itself...
