Hi,
If you can, buy this book

http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Windows-Fifth-Charles-Petzold/dp/157231995X

Programming Windows, by Charles Petzold. It is a beautifully written book, and is fun to read too. It is a great starting point if you want to get into programming Apps for Windows.
