View Full Version : Simetric Modeling In Maya?

Hi, im trying to folow a Lightwave video tut in Maya, everithing works fine with slightly diferent tools, but one thing I cant find:
In subd modeling is there a way to use simetric modeling like in Lw or Max 5?

you mean , you model on one side and the other side updates too?

If thats the case , just duplicate the model as an instance and mirror it.

Yes, but that way I would Have another row of vertices in the midle of the object and its hard to predict how the subds will react when you merge them latter.
The way Lw works is like the simetry in artisan, thats what I'm shooting for...

Try Connect Poly Shape, it will do what you are asking fot. At least if you are working with Poly Smooth (like Meshsmooth in Max).

Not as fancy as the mirror modyfier in Max 5, but it works...
