Does this low poly model seem fit for rigging? Is it ok that the arms are to the side or will I run into problems during rigging?

That is a pretty high poly model. That would deform quite well.

I know for a low poly model you have to really be careful. I have tried looking on the web for some kind of guide to rigging a low poly character but I haven't found any good info. Like the do's & don'ts.

Not a pro but I am quite certain you will at the least have trouble in the shoulder area. It will deform horribly.
If you want to see anatomically good deformable human bodies, try makehuman, it generates meshes that deform quite well. You can use it to learn from.

Thanks...

Also I went ahead and looked at the other thread and was able to adjust my model accordingly.

the shoulders and the hip area, especially the crotch, will give you a real problem

I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of showing you where the edges should run. Ignore the line under the two diagonal hip lines I didnt mean to continue it that far.

hope this helps
