Hello,
This one was inspiring, the subject I like to draw when I'm bored or
when ever I got a minute for myself.

I made it to go along with my black knight sketch, which is here if you don't remember it:

Do thee Yield!? Or shall I run ye through!
Hi all!
Here is another drawing. I thought to make the Knight more aggressive. Why does the white knight always have to be a good or nice guy, he's a warrior.
PSCS2 used.. total time? approx 3hrs.. took a long time getting the positioning, layout and lighting where I was happy with it...any suggestions?
The bottom image is a screenshot @55mins
Question: Does anyone have problems of their image not looking the way you wanted on other people's viewing screens? I have dual monitors here and one image is a nice cool gray with dark black shadows.. on the other is more a Sephia tone.... I imagine it might look totally different than intended, other people's monitors.... (or does it really matter?)
Anyway thanks... :)
BTW: Danielh68, Great use of color, concept and view angle! I likes!

Spiritt - Thanks :) Yeah, images look different depending on the brand, type, calibration, settings of any given monitor. Sometimes, I will do a quick sketch after work (at work) and then, later, view at home and discover it's too dark, saturated, etc. However, if you have a dual monitor setup, there's no reason you couldn't calibrate them to match as close as possible. I have a dual setup and they are pretty close, but one is LCD and the other is a CRT, so the display still varies, unfortunately. Perhaps, someone else will chim in with more knowledge on the subject.:)

I know I went past the limit, but I tinkered with it for another 40 mins.

Thanks for the info Danielh68. I guess I just have to adjust my images to the best of my liking and let it be.:)
Great work on the retouched image! I though I thought your first post was great, but this one is much more impactful, with almost a "dream" quality to it.
DSF and CGSociety in general amazes me daily when I see the level of work that can be done in such a short period of time. You have a great portfolio! What canvas size/ rez do you usually start with? I've been start my sketches with a standard 8"x11"/ 2550x3300 pixel canvas @300dpi. If you don't mind me asking, on average, how long does it take you to complete a piece and what size.rez are your completed works?
I would like to really get into producing higher quality work in shorter periods. Speed painting is quite the skill. (Been watching Redfrog's speed painting thread. izza nice!)

Some very very nice entries people.
Spiritt - i have the same probs as Daniel with differing monitors at work and at home. I find there to be a real difference in terms of saturation, especially between LCD and CRT monitors.
You can use calibration software but short of that i just use the color picker to make sure i am choosing colors from either a saturated or desaturated range. Its not perfect but you have to remember that even if you calibrate your own monitor, there is no guarantee that the end viewer will have the same calibration.
The only thing you can really control is print output. Web viewing will always be mixed bag.
Glad you liked my thread by the way. :)
Heres my entry - 60mn in photoshop.
Went a bit lateral in my take on the theme.
Wanted my knight to be a little 'different'.

Well, this is my third posting here on the forums. I'd like to make this a routine because I enjoy it.
Some really nice art on this topic.

Unfortunately I was having trouble loosening up and getting "into the flow" on this one. At least on this one I kinda felt like I knew where I wanted to go with it. I'd like to finish it at some point.

Hey you guys, the most awesome doodles yet. I was surprised at the turnout for this one but I've only just got back to cgtalk. I'd say it also depends on the lighting in the room, how long your eyes have been working (all day, or did you just wake up and look at the screen?) different lights (yellow lights, white lights, fluorescents, etc..) will make colors appear differently, and especially if you have a lot of colors that create illusions when placed beside each other. Again, it all depends on monitor settings as well as environment (your eyes, the room lighting). All of thise effects how you see an image. What appears darker in hue to my eye at night under yellow lighting is more pale and less bold during daylight and when my eyes have rested@!
