Hi everybody
I'm using 3DSMAX here.
Having a problem making this car look real.
Can anybody suggest ways I can improve it.
Textures perhaps? What should I use for textures?
Thanks

Hmm, tho nice looking, but if you want it to look more real, I would suggest to start over, and pay more attention to details, from start.

Check out some of Niel Blevins tutorials on shading. http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/cg_education.htm

try some good reflections maps. and a little of raytrace too. but the model don~t need any other changes. it~s very nice.

I would say it's a good start. If I were to do it modeling-wise I try thickening the front intake giving it a lip/depth so it can cast shadow onto itself. Also, the body needs some "cuts" and creases to give this vehicle a sense of scale. I think the door handle size is fine but the creases and seams should be more noticeable. Overall it needs more detail in the body ie, segments, feeling of panels and being manufactured. Right now, it looks like it came off of mold as one piece giving it a plastic model look.

Front and side skirt needs to feel like they're seperate pieces, like add ons. Select these pieces and detach and add thicknesses. The rims needs more detail and show air nozzle and add pieces like center knob, washers, etc. If you can also add brake disks through the rims. Physicallly model the front grill, right now it looks "just textured". With grill in 3d surface it will give more realistic feel.

Texture wise, if you can add grad to diffuse and sub-map to create metal look. Metals tend to have shorter fall-off between light and shadow. Right now, it's pretty even so it doesn't look metallic. And yes, some reflection would do the trick.

Light wise, raise the value in highlight giving it a hard enameled surface. Because the highlight is soft it's giving it a toy like feel.
