View Full Version : Realistic Tarmac
luisnunes 02-10-2007, 01:40 PM Hi, I´m try to make a realistic looking tarmac in Maya for a project and it has to be real close to the Cam.
But every time i render it out the texture loses definition.
what must i do??
Have a better texture with a lot of pixels and resolution(dpi) or is the another way
to render out a really good close up of a Tarmac or any other texture.
Help need fast:(((
thanks

Quite simple to know if you need a higher resolution: is the texture displayed at two or three times the resolution it has? I have some high res tarmac textures on my website, you should be able to go really close-up with those. Browse to Concrete->Asphalt on my site.
If the texture get's blurry because the camera comes very close to the road looking towards the horizon, then you could improve the sampling quality so the texture retains more detail under angles.
You could also try to add a specular map, a bumpmap, or use a displacement map (the last will take a lot of rendertime).
