His shield will change in the 3d model to be more of an extension of his arm armor. He will also shoot shadow flame from his shield arm.

looks like a good start to me although i'm finding tricky piecing the elements in your concept into a full character at the moment... still, i think i see where you're going ; )

are you going the normal map route out of curiosity?

I think some of the confusion comes from the fact I didn't sketch a forearm or his clawed hand. One floating piece is the shoulder. One is the upper arm. On the right side are side sketchs of the spine and blades that will come out of his back. His head is also a side view on the top of the sketch. The shield is the 5 radial teeth object but that is going to change. He will have a dark bluish glowing ether mid section that wasn't sketched.

I dont know whether Im going to go the normal map route. The last time I did it, I had fits with errors due to edges that are too thin. I may use the bump to normal plugin for photoshop to add ornaments to his armor.
