This clip is a bit different than the trailer, but it has one of the same scenes in it. Here is where the actual trailer is:

Hi!
I wonder how do you Guys find chances of The Cathedrall in the Oscar competition for best animated short award ? What's your favourite candidate? If one-person-production like Tomek Baginski's The Cathedrall is able to compete on the same laws with such as great & famous production houses like Pixar (Mike's New car) or Sony ImageWorks (The Chubbchubbs) ???
Those GIANTS are used to take all awards from in front of noses of littleones !!!
Szymon
ps. Is there any place on the web where we can see trailers of the others competitors (especially "Das Rad" & "Mt. Head") ???

I think The Cathedral is one hell of a job. Of course I am judging it on the little we all have seen. I think he potrayed the feeling he wanted to. Great vibe going
Software and computers are getting so powerful that a small to one man team can compete. Of course he had to be very dedicated, stuck with it, and saw it through.
I wish him the best

I think it's awesome that one-man projects like 50% Grey and Cathedral can go up against the big boys. They might not win, but a nomination is still quite an honor. These guys have paved the way for dreamers like me. Also, guys like Brian Taylor(Rustboy) and Tom Taylor(Dark Age of Light), who started their films as 3D newbies, and learned along the way. These guys all proved that it IS possible to make your dream come true, and I'm following in their footsteps. Wish me luck. :D
I saw Cathedral in its entirety at the Fuzhou CG Conference. The guys that ran it somehow obtained a copy--and yes, of course it's through illegal means.
I liked the film, but I haven't seen ChubChub or Mike's Car, so I can't say if it's got a chance.
The only thing that bothered me a bit about the Cathedral was that he used painted textures to substitute for more detailed modelling, and it looked too obvious to me. You know, the "moving and stretching texture" look. Other than that, it was great.
That is so nice looking. Very deep and moody.
