Title: Swanky Apartment
Name: Ian Souter
Country: United States
Software: Maya

I wanted to do an interior scene so I modeled this couch and things went from there. Everything was modeled in Maya. The picture on the wall is a photo I took while in Scotland that I tweaked to look like a painting. The other pictures around the room are ones that I have taken on my travels. The background picture is of Monaco. I also scanned a ton of my DVDs to use as textures for the ones on the shelf. It was textured in Maxwell Studio and rendered using Maxwell Render then heavily tweaked in Paint Shop Pro to get rid of a lot of the grain and to fix some rendering issues I had. There are still a couple of things I'm not fully pleased with but I'm going to call this one finished and move onto bigger and better things (hopefully!).

I don't know if its the dof effect made by the heavy grain or the scale of the background but the overall scene look like a 1/20 model!

in others hands, materials of the couch, the floor, the side and front table are very nice and the light is near to be perfect.

nice

I actualy disagree , I think the lighting isnt good, if u look at the outside of the room , looks like it doesnt match at all, looks just like placing a pic on that window!
I dont wanna be rude or anything , just trying to be realistic :D
Keep working...

thanks for the critiques. i know the outside looks bad. it looked 100 times worse in the render and i tried my best to fix it up for the final. i'll try to redo it sometime soon.

Tiberiandusk, I think you should check your proportions. If the couch is ~100 cm high your door should be ~3 meters high.

Yeah...the lighting outside and inside dosen't match....I feel the water color outside somehow dosen't go with the room. Also like others have mentioned, the proportions are incorrect. The couch and center table textures however look great!!

I have too agree the outside and scaling looks off. I do like the texturing and modeling. You have some good work here. Keep it up.
