View Full Version : Max 5.0 Pivots WTF???
Mr Fudge 02-25-2003, 08:34 PM OK what is the deal with the pivots in Max 5.
For some reason there are seperate pivot points for move, rotate and scale. Sometimes they all move together and sometimes they don't. What is going on???
Somebody....???

Check the state of the "use pivot point center" button on the main toolbar (to the right of the coordsys dropdown). It can be set per transform mode, so it's probably set differently for move, rotate, and scale in your scene.

Yeah what LFShade says, and also it remembers sub-object mode from ordinary transforms just to add to the fun, so that's pos, rot, scale times two :)
It is a very very cool part of MAX though I think. I find myself using them, and the various World, Local, Pick axis-alignments, all the time.

It seems to most eratic when working on really heavy scenes. As though the pivot info doesn't update immediately.
