This model came about for 2 reasons. Firstly I believe I need to practise my low poly modeling alot more and secondly after watching the second last ep of Stargate in the series I fancied making a character with a riot shield :) hehe anyway

To test my low poly skills instead of making a model with Unreal 2 or 2k3's poly limit I decided to limit myself to Quake 3's poly count limit. I thought this would really test me, especially in the texture.

So please crit the mesh as much as possible... I really need to refine my technique. Texture to come

YEAH its really all WRONG...

heh ok no not really... LOL just kdding,

it looks like a good model, my suggestions are as follows:

his head looks like a cone... its gotta be wider on the top... human heads don't look like that (most human heads) and besides he's got a heavy helmet on, so make it look heavy, right now it looks as if the helmet is like a part of the head... its not... its gotta come out more on the sides and also have some sort of bevelings for ears...

also the chest to stomach transition looks VERY flat, its as if its been cut off at that point, make it a little more interesting.

and the knees need some segments, right by where u have that triangle on the back, so add segments infront and push the knee out a little, so it doesn't cave in on itself when bending and actually looks like a knee.

OK.,.... whew lol. The NECK area looks very strange and assymetrical.. fix that up, make it straight... right now his head is off the the left a little... don't think that was intentional, so get working on that one.

Ok.. another update. Ive completely remade the helmet and some facial features. I think it looks alot better now.

Ive broadened out the chest, fixed the knee and just made some more minor changes. Oh and fixed the head at an angle :) no idea why it was like that.

Anyway here is another screen.
