View Full Version : Automobile paint
ChrisWatkins 02-25-2003, 05:15 PM I can practically guarantee there are plenty of other threads about this topic but since the search engine wont look for 'car', no one will ever find them, so Im looking for tips and shader settings to help make goodlooking car paint. I've had a little success with a composite material but I've seen much better.
Since such an important part of the way it looks is the reflections, what do people recommend as far as some kind of simple environment goes? for my mustang I did giant floating white self-illuminated rectangles that werent visible to the camera but were rendered in reflections... it was ok, but again I've seen better.
Edit: Im using Max 5

hehe, seeing that post in another thread was what made me want to develop a better shader. Ill PM my email.
I tried to imitate the effects based on your brief description of the third shader but with minimal success.
If you want to describe it a little more completely for anyone that might be watching with curiosity Im sure they'd appreciate it.

I looked at the collection of textures and didnt see anything like what Morbid Angel has done. Did I miss something?
