hey man nice to see another silo head entering the arena.

I wouldn't say I'm a Silo Head, but thanks! I'm going with XSI and MB on this one. I'll use Silo for UV's and Re-topology if I need to. I'll post some sketches later tonight and update the backstory.

I am going to give him a pet dog. Sort of like a variation on a Bullmastiff I'm going to call an empirial Mastiff. It will be bigger and more muscular. Creedence will use him to carry additional ammo and artillary, as well as stand guard while he seeks out targets.

Base Mesh:

I'm going to make a lot of the componets seperately and I am going to take the base mesh into Mudbox for detailing.

Really nice model man, I like that it still maintains your style. Nice choice for a pet as well.

Thanks still making some adjustments.

I made some updates to the mesh, changed the posture slightly and added holsters for the side arms. The sniper rifle is on the way, but I'm going through different designs for it.

yo dude. Looking cool so far. One comment though, if this is going to be the final mesh you might be able to weld a few of the loops togeter on the leg around where the side pockets are. You could probably get rid of at least 2 of them as I don't think they add to the shape or deformations..

Lookin' groovy.

Yeah I probably should, I thought the geometry migt help when I scuplt in the detail, but now the I think on it I could do without them. Good catch and Thanks!

Major topology overhaul to meet contest rules I was way over the poly budget.

Very nice models man, looking pretty clean. You still might be able to kill the loop going around his quads and the one going around his calves, I'm not sure if it really adds much to the model and I'm not sur eif it'd really add to deformation that much. BUT, that's a little much...you're within the limitations so it's all good :)

Can't way to see the next steps on this guy, It's looking really cool.

Cheers,
Gav

This is my fault. The final concept is more fleshed out in my head, I am not the best concept artist. I did checkout starcraft ghost, but in the end I'm going for a different look. Stay posted. I will layout the UVs within the next two days and then I will sculpt the hi res version in mudbox.

Very nice organic feel to the head sculpt dmonk. Proportion wise, I feel that torso is a bit too long.. and if move up the knees and hips it'll work well. Maybe a bit more mass to the upper legs as well? Looking forward to the rest of your highpoly work.

hey monk.... its pretty nice stuff so far.. the low poly is good and the flow is nicely done too... i hav some comments on the dog.. I thinking u rushed to the higher divison before working out the forms in the lower ones... so again its wht every good artist in the industry says and making use of that workflow personally I would suggest to get down a few division and capitalize ur forms in there... the nose, eyes... the wrinkes etc ... and once ur done u will really see tht ur model comes out a 1000% better without much of blobiness around...

I saw ur posts on tweak too and I guess u saw Kolbys new Timelapse video tut too... its a very good presentation of how things are to be approached while scuplting... working out the most in the first few divisions... nothing much mroe... its going good and waiting to seemore..cheers..

Some of the blobbiness is intentional, but it does need to be refines a lot. I was try to create the feel of some of the loose skin on a bullmastiff. I still need to paint in the big wrinkles and folds.

really like the doggie! coming along nicely! I agree with Adam about the proportions of a guy - the torso is very long and he looks very thin in general. I'd give his legs some mass and muscle... he seems to have some of that on the hands...

keep in coming!

THanks Intervain. I have an update on him coming. I needed to start in on the other parts of my entry before I became too focused on that part. I have beefed up the legs on him a bit, but I changing some things on him So I will post those updates when they are a bit further along.
