I usually create animations for final use on computer monitors. I am now trying to output an animation to be reproduced on a DVD to be played on TVs. When I have the DVD created, the resolution of the animation on the TV looks terrible and has this aweful buzz/flicker effect. Through some research I am assuming that it has to do the settings and resolution of the final movie file. Can someone give me some pointers as to how I can keep the quality of my animation when playing back on a TV? Could it be something as simple as changing the setting in my After Effects file or is it the original render settings that need to be changed? What do I need to take into consideration when creating an animation to be played on a TV?

The difference between computer monitors and TV seems to be fairly complicated, so any direction would be helpful.

Thanks

what are you using to create the DVD, Encore?
and how are you rendering out of AE? what format, resolution, compression, etc?

Sounds to me as if you have your fields reversed. This is proably all down to your after effects settings. Try to make sure you are exporting from After effects with the fields set in the correct order (upper or lower - cant remember and its not in front of me haha) or in progressive (or the setting may be 'none'). Also make sure your resolution is correct for your output.

After effects can be slightly tempremental until you get a handle on the details... make sure you understand each of the output settings in the render que - if in doubt google it.

It could also be down to your compression settings in you DVD app - set these to as high quality (highest bitrate/lowest compression) as possible to see if it helps.
