So I really just wanted to get my thread up so I could finish the whole registration thing. I'm working wth a friend of mine - his ability to conceptualize is quite astonishing. I'll be working with the model. We're glad to be a part of the CG Society team!

First sketch by Rickey - just tossing around some ideas.

Great Start! I'll be watching the progress on this one. Are those spikes on the shoulder and legs or will that be something softer, like corse hair maybe?

Hmmm...good question - I shall have to ask! I think they are meant to be a more ornate type of armor - probably metal in the end. We look forward to crushing you Polycounters...haha.

The story:

"Stories of the elders often told of disease ridden assassins, creatures that harbored beauty and poison, skin as hard as bone and the swiftness of wind. Behold the daughters of ziekt, whose simple purpose is to eradicate their subjects. Disease has blinded the daughters, who make their way through an adept sense of smell, and has equipped them with a lethal poison which no one is immune to."

I like your mixture of beauty and disfuguration, how will the poison be implimented? Via A poison bite? those nasty hands with hollow needle-like structures? secreted through the skin for a touch of death? I like the concept with the large hands, has a very eerie undertone to it. Great start :O)

And they have quite the imagination, huh!?!? :) Seriously, the competition is fierce. I plan to start working on this some this weekend.

Thanks also to broken pencil and titan369...I'm thinking it would be cool to have the poison be passed through a thick mucus membrane that covers parts of her body. Perhaps that would give her a bit of a wet skin?

here is head progress #1 - i know there are still some things to change here, but i was getting to a point where i needed to break from it for this evening. suggestions welcome.

here's an update with changes including overall face shape, some more detail, and i tried for a little bit of an evil expression to match who she is. i also started with the cloak just preliminarily...you'll have to imagine hair flowing out from underneath it at this point. any suggestions appreciated. i haven't worked in any disease yet.

She looks spooky and mysterious.

I think her eyebrows could us more definition and the side of the nose that has the smirk should have more of a crease.

Looking Nice Quickel. I think if the cheekbones were less pronounced it could give her a little more feminism. I guess its all about what you're going for though.

thanks, creinholtz! i think the reason i pushed the cheekbones so much was from the original concept (at the top of this thread) - she looked almost skeletal.

I enjoy the work that you've done on the head Quickel. The expression has this really strange and creepy vibe coming from it.

Not sure what look you're going for, but what strikes me is the very large brow and the apple cheek on the left, which looks like it may be arcing too much towards the nose. Hope that makes sense. I look forward to seeing how this design progresses.

I would reccomend finding some reference photos of women faces to get the features to look female, and then add in some more of the deformations of the face to portray desease. Right now, I get the feeling that this is a guy, the brows are too heavy and the forehead is a little prominant. raise your ears up a bit on the side of the head, and sink in the cheeks a little, the apples of the cheeks are too puffy. Lastly the lips are a little thin for a woman, your model is coming along well, just needs a few tweeks to it. Hope this critique helps you improve your design :O)

i started working on the arms and i'm just not feeling the design of them right now. i realize there are other issues at hand here, too, but this was just my first pass on the body.

The body looks really good, only thing bothering me is the shoulders look too wide from the front.

whats up dude, i like the body, putting the weight on her body makes her look alot more realistic than most of these skinny biaches people are making, heres to keeping it real.:thumbsup:

really cool model! good. and the arms are very well done. I think all the body is well balanced. Maybe you can pay more attention to the head/face. Anyway you're doing a great job!

I like your new post for the head Quickel, it looks much better. Maybe for the next update you can make the skin of one of the cheeks look like it is rotting away, to push the infected look, I wouldn't deform the shape of the face anymore though. Any work on the body? It is coming along well.

struve - thanks man. i'm glad you're keeping up with me. broken pencil - i certainly want to put some sort of broken skin in there - searching for google images of things such as "infection", "rotting skin", etc. is not recommended after eating. :)

here is a clothing update - the concept was sort of open ended so any comments are appreciated...i plan to do the feathers using crazy bump since i have to create a map for the alpha anyway.

i sarted the bandages but didn't finish them. next update should include them and any of the above deformations i want to make. this will be the end of the hi-res stage and time to get the lo-res normal mapped.

Final high res version here....I started the low poly and will post when I get a little more done. Struve, Titan - I tried the basket and wasn't working. Struve suggested that it be filled with skulls and such but I have a deadline! :) Any comments are always appreciated.

i finished the low poly for the most part and started looking at projecting the normals. here is sort of a first pass which still has some problem areas. i really dunno if this'll be done by the the 19th. if not i still want to finish it because i started it. i'd hate to rush it and have it look bad...

i was initially thinking about making that a separate object, although later i thought i'd normal map it directly to the mesh. i didn't have time to work with it yet.

good modeling so far. however i personally think the face looks a little too immature/young. also i think you need to push power in her appearence. she needs to look like she can win a war.

Titan369, srtruve, and medunecer - thanks for the pat on the back. :) mashru - originally i was going for a more mature face and it was too masculine so i backed off and went somewhat younger. i totally agree you on the "bad-ass-ness" of the character. i think the concept wasn't appropriate enough to begin with and it's just too late now.

Well give her face a scar/burn/mutation/ugly alien growth, anything. She might not have the age but those could perhaps signify she has experience to make up for it. That's how young can overcome veterans :D. Or in our industry, talents and hardworking :D

NP man, you could give her some battle scars or burn marks or something showing this chick has gone through hell in a hand basket and is thirsty for more...just a thought.
