View Full Version : Vehicle: Nissan Skyline
flewp 02-25-2003, 08:53 AM Yep, another Skyline. I kind of wanted to make it a bit sleeker though, and modify if it, if ever so slightly.
I also want to make a few different front air dams for it, just to see how it looks.

Oops, forgot to ask that you don't be too harsh, it's my first real attempt at a car (well, one such as this, I have a Ferrari F2002 on the forums at the moment, but the modelling approach is pretty different)
It's done in trueSpace (when I'm not trying to learn LW).
Need to tighten up the seams and make them line up better.
Comments, critiques requested. I'm really interested in the texturing of it right now, as I want to get a good head start for when I'm ready to render it for final scenes.

For your first car it sure does look pretty good, can't wait to see it in all its glory. your almost there,, :bounce:

Another update. The wing is for the JGTC model, I'll model a street going wing later. Seams haven't been cleaned up yet as I still need to modify the shapes of the parts a bit.

Your model is really starting to look nice! You're using sub d's? right? With out sewing the edges of the panels, do you know how to get the fender and the hood to come to a point? I just started working with them today, and THat really seems to be my main issue. THanks alot,

do a 3-point corner to get a nice pointed corner where the hood curves off at the headlights (assuming you're using subdivisions)
Nice looking model... Truespace huh? And a first car model? Man, way to go!

Nice! the car looks great. I'm sure you will be fixing the little seem problems so the only real problem I see is that the car isn't long enough. It looks a little cartoony, adding length shouldn't be too hard. Good work, keep it up :)

Thanks for the tip, I will try it out later today!

Yep, the car isn't long enough. I haven't finished the back end. I'm trying to figure out how to do the corner on the back and still maintain some clean geometry.
As for the seams, I'll be tightening them up and lining them up better once the car is actually fully modelled. If I do it now it's just more geometry to work with if I decide to change the shape at all.

Hi, I love your shader, is there anyway you can post it? is it for maya or xsi? let me know, thanks

Been awhile since an update, but here it is:
http://ck.ethereal.net/front2.jpg
Not as good as the other cars I've seen on here, but it's getting pretty good I think.
These tires/wheels are for the JGTC version, so that's why it's a slick and has only one lug, but the street going wheel will be pretty similiar, though I may go with a 6 spoke design.
Toulouse: It's done trueSpace (everything from modelling to shading), not Maya or XSI.

Just a different angle this time, with more work on the wheel and brakes.

Once again it's been ages since I've had an update.
Here's one, but it really needs a lot of work.

Just playing around,

coming along nicely, you going to add detail to that bumper right?
your car's floating on the last render btw :p

Well, updates are slow to come, but here's another one:

I'll add some wires of the individual parts next time I open up the project.

Great GTR coming through :D
I can tell that you're modeling R34,
and I noticed some things to fix:
The seam of the top of headlights are linear, not curvy.
(Well, not COMPLETELY linear, but you know what I mean :p)

The inner taillights (inner circles :p) should be further below.

Like this :)
Keep up good works!

Yeah, it's quite a bit off in a number of areas, I'm kind of adding my personal touches to it. It's also kind of a blend of the Calsonic JGTC Skyline. I also want to finish it soon, so I'm not too worried about being too inaccurate. My first major project in LW (which I'm currently learning, and is why I want to finish this tS project soon) is going to be an accuratly done R34. I'll also probably keep coming back to this model in tS to keep adding detail as well, but it'll be a side project. I most likely will fix the taillights soon though, these were kind of a first attempt at laying out the geometry before subdividing.

Okay, well, not much of an update, but I'm kind of struggling with how I want to design it, so any suggestions would be great. (I do kind of want to have a diffuser type of deal going on in the back, but I'll have to see how the rest of the design goes)

I will be adding some kind of lights next to the license plate as well, and hopefully get around to lowering the smaller brake lights.
