hey, Im trying to make a bit of a forest so that my little lego racer can race through it, anyway...I was just wondering how you can make some good...fairly realistic dirt in maya ? any ideas or maybe a tute somewhere..cheers :)

ps..my crappy dirt below...oh and the surface is a lofted nurbs surface and its got of a bend going on..but like a race track..you can kind of make it out in the image..tanx

worked on it a little more and added a bump map and played with the projection..looks a bit better..but still pretty crap.

Have not used maya in a while but there is a earth or dirt texture here.

http://www.highend3d.com/maya/shaders/

There are some other cool shaders you might be able to break apart and use. Hope this helps.

I beleve that you import it thru the multilister and then just apply it to your surface. Like I said it has been a while and I don't have the interface right in front of me. Do a search on how to add it on google. Or maybe there is more info on highend 3d. Sorry can't be of more help then that.
