View Full Version : Toon character
ryguy 02-25-2003, 05:15 AM I've been working on this character for quite some time for a short film a few buddies I'm working with.
His name is Giblet and he's from the town of Gibillville. His species live on tree tops and Giblet is Gibillville's bug catcher. He loves to leap from trees chasing various critters, creatures, and the occasional army of bees.

im sorry.. I really dont like him at all.. His textures are really bad.. It looks like he'd be in some sort of low budget software, maybe educational....

you've obviously got good plans for this guy. As he is now, i think his skin texture is a bit offputting, and makes it harder to read what his face is expressing, which will be important when animating the little dude.
and, just as personal preference, id get rid of the bottom half of his feet,(bit wierd for me)
are the textures procedricle maps or image maps? (presets or photoshop jobs etc.)
:wip:

A guess from afar, you can't really see that I'm trying to have a furry texture (without the use of fur dynamics):

I agree, the skin still needs some tweaking, as I said before, i'm trying to fake fur without using actual fur dynnamics.
His textures are suppose to be "dirty" or "busy" since he lives in the woods, on top of trees. So grass stains and dirty marks are common to see on his clothes.
His textures were creating using a combination of Dark Tree (procedural shader tool) and Photoshop.

Well if your trying to fake fur, your missing the picture because your edges on the character are smooth instead they should be rugged. For this you would need to go back to your modeling stage. Keep up the good work.
