Hello everyone.
I have a question, my boss wants me to make renders taht look like these:

basically it looks cartoony, but real-ish...
I remember seeing a technique somewhere, where you render a grey image out and multiply it with the colour render... and I have also seen the shader for 3DS, the toon shader... anything like this out there for LW? or techniques that people know of?

There is a technique using stepped gradients (or Super Celshader or BESM), bumps and motion blur. Can't find the link now but VBK has a tutorial about it. For more realistic finish, be sure to use more realistic lighting.
Other technique is using some PS filters. You can see a tutorial about this by Paolo Zago here (http://digilander.iol.it/gundamweapons/tutorials/paintlike/).

I do this in PS with front lighting to get the pencil effect. (High pass + levels + blur + 50% scale). The rest might be a bit trickier.
