Anyone suggest the best way approach to jellyfish tentacles? (Carefully i guess HAHA-Sorry i always laugh at my own jokes)

Ive had some success with spline IK and even FK but What id really like is a script or expression driven solution that really allows me to get that silky smooth-flowing tentacle action!
Im working In Maya but am happy to adapt!!

try converting it the tentacles to a softbodys and play with some dynamic fields on them. You can use particle expressions if you need to.

did you tried the multichain solver ? you need to activate it by

createNode ikMCsolver;

it's the old PA solver and good for that, a little bit unpredictable but if you're carefully animating it works cool

thanks chaps!

I already experimented a little with the particle/softbody option, but i would prefer to have greater control over individual tentacles!!

The IMK Solver sounds interesting - im trying to figure it out.
The online docs dont really give much away!!

Any tips/tutorials anywhere???

Thanks again!!

no problemo - by the way, your original post mentions a picture of the beasty... but it doesn't show up.
