Hi,

I've been working hard on my texture creation skills, but I'm self taught so the teachers shortcomings are becoming apparent. Hopefully this is a softball question for those of you here.

I have some nice wood references I want to turn into a texture. Unfortunately, the wood is a healthy brown. I don't quite have the hang of changing colors in a texture. What would be the best way to go about making the texture gray(er).

Cheers,
/bruce

If you only want to make the texture grayer and not B/W or if you want to change colours, then use Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Colour Balance also changes the colour, but it adds colour as well, makes it more saturated. So if you use Colour Balance then take the saturation down in Hue/Saturation.
