Is anyone else whos rendering GI experiencing more than usual crashes?

I apologize for not supplying more information. I can't pinpoint any problem other than the GI. Regardless of the project, whenever I render GI, I crash every 4-10th render when doing test renders. My workflow nor computer have changed and I didn't find this normal behavior for v9.6. (dual dual 2.5 G5 , 2.5GB SDRAM, OSX 10.4.8)

Did you send the automatically generated crash/bug reports in to Maxon?

No problems for me. I've been doing lot's of GI renders today as tests for a client.

I've been sticking mostly to stochastic the last week but i've been doing a lot of GI renderings with a huge file this last little while with no crashes (well none from GI I should say :banghead: )

@Per-Anders

I checked the bugreports, but I only had one from weeks ago. . .usually what I get is the Unending Beach Ball / Color Wheel of Death and so I end up having to force quit. I guess since I force quit, no bugreport is generated. This is after i see the renderlines/info time stop moving and I try to exit out of the render by closing the picture viewer.

@3DKiwi

Thanks for your response! I hope to have results like your getting soon :)

@Lucent

I'm using standard. But I'm glad to see the problem is isolated and perhaps I can soon resolve it.

I've noticed the same issue with the demo version of C4D 10 on Mac (Quad G5, 4.5gb Ram, 10.4.8). I thought it might have something to do with it being a demo install but sounds like it might not be. Looking forward to finding out if there is a resolution to this issue.

I have been using C4D for a number of years on both wintel and G5 platforms. (even R10) It was not noticably unstable. Recently I upgraded to the Mac Quad Xeon and it has been a nightmare. Constant crashes doing almost anything - but most often when working with materials (editting or in Bodypaint). It is difficult to replicate the problem and it is not file specific.

I have run Memtest twice as prescribed and my Ram is stable. I have taken the same file onto a MacBookPro and had similar flakey performance, it certainly seems like it is on the Mac Intel platform that the problems lie. The same file on a G5 is rock solid.

On way around the problem seems to be to constantly save

I have sent my crash reports in but to be frank they are so frequent as to seem pointless, I was hoping someone might know of other workarounds.
