Hallo! :)

I've found community help really unvaluable, during the last (and my first) Challenge, and here I come to ask for a few pairs of fresh eyes...

I'm aiming for a rather eerie feeling here. Those three are Zeron, symbiotic aliens, the result of the combination of an energy life-form with a humanoid. The resulting aliens are monochromatic and featurless (they speak by means of color vibration) but are also able to shape-shift into 'almost' normal looking humans.
The girl in the middle is a just transformed red Zeron.

The stage of the work is an 'advanced color pass' so to speak, comments and suggestions welcome!

Hey Thaldir :) , nice to see you have another WIP going. Ok things I noticed, one shoulder on the blue guy looks higher than the other, with the light source coming from the back you might want to get a little more light on the edges of the characters, and possibly the windows...not quite sure exactly how to explain what I mean. Something about the perspective on the building is bothering me, but not sure what ( you know me and perspective , ha ha we just dont' get along) The girl is very sexy looking, the whole picture kicks butt, especially the characters.

I think this pict would become more eerie if u resize those aliens to a size of a 7yearold kids(without design changing) They look somehow to silly for adults(with those funny helmets, blue is funnier then green one:) although I think i know what did u tryed to make. And maybe adding some seesaw in background, like this is their teritory where they live in some kind of isolation...
Think about it :)

ooo creepy playground in the background would be cool as heck, the girl does have that expression like she wants to play, or that cat that ate the canary look. I really love her expression, in face as well as the attitude of her body language.

Thank you both!:)

Linda, can I have you as my official perspective checker? There definitely were a few lines off in the building (never trust wholly photo-ref, lesson learned!).
The blue Zeron is slouching a bit to one side and in fact has one shoulder higher than the other , I think I got the point that made it look wrong, though. I would like to hear your opinion on the next step of the work when I post it.

youthCrisis, thank you for the kids in playground idea, I like it a lot but I think I'll use it in a different piece, these three have definitely adult bodies, it isn't just a matter of size.
BTW how did you know that this place is my town's kindergarten? ;)

lol Thaldir, sure sure you can have me as your official perspective checker, but I 100% suck at perspective. ok ok get busy lets see an update.... maybe you can check my funky troll thingy for me, I am at that point where I could use some crits. He is on page 2 of my wip sketch thread stuff, if you get a chance *begs :D

Here I am with the next step.

The building has seen some restyling, the same goes for Blue's helmet and armor design, some general refining is also in progress (most noticeable on the human-looking Red, I hope ;) ).

I like the building restyling, I really like the pattern on her skin now also. Seems like you got a bit too much highlight on her left (your right) breast, it looks considerably larger now than it did and not as natural as in the first post. I guess I want to say, the right one is hanging naturally and the left one looks like it got a silicon boost. You added some sheen to bluey and greeny , looks cool.

Anyway, hope my rambling helps a bit , ha ha I better quit now and just wait for an update on this awesome pic.

> can u add some backlighting on all the characters .. especially on the females head/hair.. as light from the moon .. even the windows can reflect that light ..

> how about some specular shine on the characters ..

> Glistening eyes for the female character ..

Duly noted, Ivy! :) Silicon prothesis has been removed already (I got a bit carried away with lightning there) .

Neville, you're definitely a godsend for self-doubting people :) . Charachters will definitely have more backlight, that and shine are usually among the last things I do in a painting.
Glistening eyes, you say? Cat-like? I'll have to experiment with that ...:)

I would say this is finished.
Opinions? Am I missing something? :)

i totally agree with vivien82 , hands are simply outstanding!

two things bro ...

> her left thigh seems a little less saturated .. that is .. if u compare it with her right thigh..how about some more saturation ?

> bro .. are u using photoshop CS 2? .. if yes ... for ur final creation .. ( the flattened file )
appy a 'smart sharpen' filter with a value of 50% .. with the 'more accurate' option switched on .. make sure ur compare the results by clicking the preview button on n off ..

thats it buddy! ..

ur work is ..

good luck my friend!

now u kno wat needs to be done! :p

EXPOSE 5 entry submission .. full speed ahead! :buttrock:

god bless u Bro!

Grazie, Vivien! :) Next time I'll post more steps, I promise.

This will be a year dedicated to 'serious' portfolio pieces, so I'll be sure to post often here (hope you all won't grow tired).

Neville, thanks, Bro!:) Your idea of reflection on the windows was great!

I played with saturation on the leg, but with that being in shadow having it more saturated really didn't 'go' for me, dunno if it is a monitor regulation thing, on mine her left tight (but for highlights) has the same saturation of the shadowed part of her right leg...

I tried the filter you suggested, and couldn't see any real difference:sad: , maybe I missed some controls? Was I supposed to go 'advanced' maybe?

yup yup .. i c ur point bro :p

well ummm .. as for the sharpen filter .. i think coz its a high res image .. the effect is not visible .. try at 100% .. also .. go in advance and check to c if 'remove gaussian blur' is selected ...

if it still doesnt work .. leave the image as it is ... it looks awesome still! :scream::thumbsup::buttrock:

cheers bro!

looking forward to ur next creation!
