This looks like it would be a killer to render with GI... Great job though! I really like it untextured but I think it would add to it if it did have some really nice textures applied. Keep up the good work!

And as oxygen_77 said before: Add some nice texture. That would be very cool

Excellent details
I think the only thing you could really improve for this would be to make the lighting more dramatic :)

Oh wow, someone is doing a Stargate model, and a quality model at that.:applause:

Everything looks great so far. Looking FWD to seeing the gate textured. You’ve done the Event Horizon already in a test? I’m excited to see that!

AFAIK, steam only emanates from the braces holding the Stargate in place while the chevrons are dialed in.

The only thing that stood out to me were the steps leading up to the ramp of the Stargate. Isn’t it a ramp from the concrete floor up to the Stargate, w/out steps? Cause SG-1 runs mobile probes through the Stargate once in a while, and they need the ramp there to wheel them up. [ but I could be wrong here..]

Are you going to do the Iris too?

Great subject matter and modeling so far, looking FWD to updates

Its funny you noticed the steps right in front of the ramp, when i started modeling the gateroom i arived at the point of the stepts, actualy its a (stupid) design, but in the serie and in the movie the steps are there. its not logic thoug.. because they first have to lift the probe on the ramp first :curious:

Hey, that’s funny.

You have shown the details of the Stargate very accurately, so I don’t doubt that the steps aren’t there in both versions [series and the movie].

Where did you get your ref pics from?

Again, really nice work here

whoa, I love that show. It looks very accurate, and with a little editing with the render settings, you could do a proper realistic scene, along with dialing and the worm hole opening. I really really love the details you have used, and cant wait for more progress.

I really like the movie... you did a good job of replicating the gate, but I think it'll be much better when you texture it, cause right now, it seem a bit light. :D

Well i just modelt it from my hand, no scktshes ect.. but i first found some data of the stargate on internet i got the size ect.. so i made a very low poly model and modelt the gateroom around it.. then i made the stargate with the real sizes from the real stargate set.

and its all done with max5 and the lose model is with brazil gi..

Very impressive. I am liing the high detail renders. Could we get a full scene wire? Also, it looks like the event of opening portal pic, has too much reflection on the wall...either that, or i can't fuigure out what it is right now, it is just too much.

ElmarNieser
02-27-2003, 12:03 AM
Well thanks for the coments im going to work on the big animation now, it could take some time but its gonna be great i hope when its finished :D

Hehe I saw your work at GoT (no Im not registered there but I follow it :)) great work! So much detail just modeled. How much poly's are there?
Niw, the render with Event Horizon looks very nice too, especially the effects on the walls, not sure what they are though :P

Keep up the good work!

Are those caustics faked? They look pretty good, but there isnt as much as an effect like that on the show.
