View Full Version : Creating a bubble texture

Does anyone have any experience or advice they could offer on producing bubble textures?

I know the best thing to do is to get some direct reference (go out and buy one of those little 'magic bubble' pots that kids have!), but I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a head start?

I'm guessing that bubbles obey the fresnel effect, that they have a certain amount of refraction (does anyone know the correct IOR?), and that they are reflective (I guess raytracing is out of the question because there will be so many).

Also, how might I simulate the 'rainbow' film of oil that makes up the bubbles surface? I've thought about an animated AVI clip, or maybe an animated procedural?

If be appreciative of any ideas or advice that any of you could offer!
