CGTalk - After effects layer masking

Just wondering if it's possible to use an animated movie (flashmovie) as a mask for another layer in after effects (5.5)

it would save me a great deal of work,

I'm not sure about using flash movies for masking is possible (never tried) but you can use any layer as a mask for some other layer.
