Content Browser Acting up again now in R10

I've also always had problems with the Browser all the way back to v6. It is merely a convenience feature, not a serious cataloger. For that, I use iView Media Pro.

If you are on a pc then you would need to find a similar image conversion utility like Graphic Converter, to extract the Jpegs from the catalogs jpeg stream. Graphic Converter can open partially corupt files that Cinema cannot, as long as they are image files, or contain image files.

Once you have a thumnail associated with your scene file, or any 3d mesh asset, then a DAM like iView can be used to organize your library of assets. It's also one of the lowest price pro-level catalogers out there.

The browser in 9.5 onwards is completely different to the previous "Browser" and not to be confused with the browser in versions before.

A tool like graphic converter while great for handling image files and even some basic metadata, but it's not necesarily so helpful here, it's not a lot of use for managing or sorting through 3d assets contrlling their directory structure and allowing things like instant merge, storing and reading of preferences and object presets etc, I'm also not sure how that's helpful to tmas in his situation where it appears a single library file has become corrupted somehow and he'd like the data back out of it.

Sorry tmas, I really don't know what could have happened, unfortunately the file is huge and probably contains data you don't want to share, however if not then maybe you might think about sending it to Maxon or contacting their tech support on this as they're more likely to be able to find out what the issue is. I've personally not had such problems with the browser (but that doesn't mean that a bug doesn't exist).

i just got up this morning and must report the same thing - in that my sketch library does not show up anymore - either in the browser or the drop down menu in the 'load material preset' - i have dragged in a .backup lib4d but it still wont show. quite anoying. will send to tech support this morning - has anyone else had this ?

Well, count me to the unhappy lot! Yesterday I was to load some presets from the Content Browser but nothing showed up - no c4d-files, no images, nothing. The .lib sizes are still the same but I can't access their content anymore.

I don't know if I'm missing something but the Content Browser is useless for me as a 3d file asset cataloger, for that matter, textures as well. The now extinct simple browser was great. I have about 3000+ models all of which are in folders and sub-folders, which the OLD browser could see into and catalog, quickly I might add. Even if the CB could see into folders, it is excruciatingly slow at creating thumbnails, which alone makes it useless. Why was the old simple browser done away with?

Again, and hopefully, I'm missing something in my approach to the CB that will make it shine in glory once my ignorance has been removed.

I might add that I tried copying some old .libs from 9.6 CB but no show for those either.

I think one issue I found on my system is that when I have a dual monitor setup and the contend browser is open (visible on the screen) and I Quit Cinema it crashes the application and the library that was open in the contend browser got screwed.
