problem:

i have made a long camera tracking with REALVIZ Matchmover Pro, i imported and set up everything in max. The problem is that the 3D footage is superclean and the quality of the video is somewhat dirty.

The solution is simple, but i have a little problem. what i want is simply to render the 3D part without background in max but in a tga sequence with alpha channel and WITH the matt shadows. Then just in After effects make the upper 3D layer dirty. BUT, the matt shadow ground (for the 3d shadows) in alpha shows up like a black plane (which is obvious). Now, how can i render my tga's with shadow, with objects and WITH a matt shadow included? (so no black plane)??

it simply has to work, how else should people have to make their 3D part in a camera track messy?

So your matte is outputting to alpha via the shader option and it is at full value. I guess shadow density does not change the alpha? Cuz surely you tried that...

What is wrong with compositing a shadow pass, why does the matte and shadow need to be on the same image layer?

Maybe even create a dirty shadow to comp in effect and multiply the layer against the plate to retain some original detail etc..

the geometry you want to have shadow has to have a matte material applied to it.........uncheck Opaque Alpha .... check recieve shadows and affect alpha .......then render as a 32 bit targa with pre multiplied alpha and thats it!!!!

i hope this is what you meant
